This extremely simple, 4 ingredients, no bake, chocolate slice is a definite winner. (If you require gluten-free, you can substitute Marie biscuits for a gluten- free Marie biscuit).

This recipe is usually rolled into balls and coated in desiccated coconut (Rum Balls – without the rum!).

However, instead of rolling the mixture into balls I have opted to place it into a tin, which assists in a quicker and less messy process!

Pin for later

250g Arnott’s Marie biscuits or similar biscuits

¼ cup organic cacao powder

½ cup organic desiccated coconut and extra for top and bottom of slice

1x 395g tin sweetened condensed milk

rum ball slice 3

Line a 9cm x 26cm bar tin with baking paper leaving some paper overhanging so it is easier to remove when set

Crush biscuits in a food processor

Place crushed biscuits in a mixing bowl along with cacao powder, desiccated coconut and condensed milk. Stir well until combined.

Sprinkle extra coconut on the bottom of the bar tin

Place the mixture into the tin and press down and smooth with the back of a spoon

Sprinkle more coconut on the top of the slice and place in the fridge to set. I usually keep mine overnight, though a few hours are sufficient

Lift the slice out of the tin and place on a chopping board.

Using a sharp knife, thinly slice the chocolate slice and arrange on a plate to serve

  1. Thanks Lorelle! This one is inspiring! Do you know if I can replace the marie biscuits with Digestive? I can’t seem to find marie biscuits here without traces of nuts.

  11. We used to be able to buy bags of broken biscuits in England for a tiny price and I would make something similar for my children and little visitors – actually strike little, just visitors! I’d forgotten all about it so I think I should resurrect it but following your yummy recipe. In the interests of research, you understand 😉

This recipe looks amazing, Lorelle! I love a simple recipe – especially a simple dessert recipe. 🙂 I’m going to look around for some gf biscuits like Marie’s here in Minnesota. I just want you to know that I appreciate the gf recipes I see on your blog. Two people in my household have Celiac, so we only cook/bake gluten-free here. Thanks so much for posting this recipe!
