1. Orchard Road
The iconic Orchard Road is a shoppers’ paradise. With a vast variety of luxurious air-conditioned above ground as well as underground shopping malls, you are sure to make a purchase here! Orchard Road provides access to Singapore’s efficient rail network and bus system.
Enjoy the numerous restaurants and cafes too, and don’t miss out on the renowned ice cream sandwich vendors selling these bargain priced treats from their little refrigerated carts. 🙂
By day…
By night…
Your favourite flavour ice cream served in between wafers or sweet bread, sold on Orchard Road…
2. Merlion Park
Singapore’s famous half fish, half lion landmark, is a wondrous sight situated at Merlion Park, One Fullerton, close to Singapore’s business precinct. The 8.6 metre sculpture stands before you continuously spouting water from its mouth, creating a photographer’s paradise. Enjoying the evening sunsets at this popular tourist attraction is a must.
Beautiful backdrop of the luxurious Marina Bay Sands Hotel…
3. Singapore Zoo Night Safari
Visiting Singapore’s night Zoo was a completely different and unique experience I would highly recommend. Suitable for all ages, the Zoo houses more than 1,000 nocturnal animals, so you are able to observe these creatures at their most active period of the day. Included is a night show, hop on open sided tram ride and four individual, pedestrian only walking trails. For a Zoo experience like no other make sure you check out the Night Safari!
4. Gardens by the Bay
Discover this award-winning Conservatory, showcasing horticulture, sustainability and unique architectural design. Gardens by the Bay is an unmissable attraction in Singapore. It is quite easy to spend half a day here exploring its beauty, and don’t forget to savour the local authentic dining experience at Satay by the Bay, before watching Garden Rhapsody, a wonderful visual and audio show each night.
5. Sentosa Island Resort World
This large resort complex is the home to world-class Michelin restaurants, exclusive hotels, a Casino and a variety of tourist attractions, such as Universal Studios, Trick Eye Museum and the S.E.A Aquarium. This entertainment precinct is an attraction not to be missed and boasts fun for all ages.

Wonderful post Lorelle. Must admit when we were in Singapore it was new year and so much was closed. But still a beautiful place.

We had a wonderful time. Yes the Gardens sure are, but we visited them on our last trip there so this time gave them a miss. Thanks for stopping by. 😊

Never been to Singapore – hopefully one day – but all of these sound great!! We watched a TV show recently about the Marina Bay Sands Hotel which whetted our appetites to visit even more.

It’s a really beautiful area around the Marina Bay. When we were there 20 years ago, that area was all bare, so was a big difference to see it now. Thanks Joy. 😊

What a lovely photo of you right there, Lorelle. I was quite young when I went to Singapore and my only memory of the zoo there is watching colourful macaws and the sight of a rake thin man wedged within the wide open jaws of a crocodile. He was relaxing within those jaws, smiling serenely all long. I have never been able to wipe it away from my mind, though the gods know, I want to.
The idea of nocturnal sightings sound so interesting. I do not think I got to do it with my parents. xx

Awww thank you Arundhati.
What memories you have! I don’t know if I would be able to remove that image from my mind as well!!! I remember visiting the Zoo 20 years ago and having breakfast with the orangutans, which they still do! Their Zoos are amazing. Singapore is currently adding another park to their Zoo precinct and there is a lot of construction happening there at the moment. Their Zoos are a huge tourist industry in itself! Xx

Oh yes now that you mention it, I remember people putting their babies in the laps of a big orangutan and clicking photos of them. She was a big old lady and was fond of petting children. We have a photo in Calcutta of her in our photo albums too. Don’t they have them anymore — the breakfast with the orangutan affair?

We’ve only ever been to Singapore twice on stopovers. Your post shows me how little we saw there. I only remember Clark Quay really. Next time we must stay longer and have a good look. Thank you for sharing Amanda.

There seems to be a lot of us who visited Singapore at this stage with the same memories as well. It has definitely changed from that “stopover” country it once was.
