This delicious salad was served as an entrée at La Forestiere, Monclar de Quercy, though instead of the grapes, Monique used fresh figs, which were equally delicious paired with the soft goat’s cheese. The honey mustard dressing is a personal recipe of mine. Summer fruits make a great substitute in salads. Let me know what fruits you use in your salads in the comments below….

Summer Salad 4

Mignonette, green oak or butterhead lettuce

Red grapes

Goats cheese

1/4 cup white wine vinegar

1 Tablespoon honey

1 Teaspoon Dijon mustard

1/4 cup Olive oil

Arrange all salad ingredients on a dish or bowl.

For dressing, combine all ingredients in a jar and shake well. Dress salad with dressing and serve. 😉

  3. Wow I make a very similar salad in summers 🙂 Instead of goat cheese I use feta and mozzarella, instead of grapes I use kiwifruit and instead of vinegar I use fresh lemon juice. Yum! It goes well with grilled Polish sausages and chilled beer 😀

  5. What would be interesting with all the Italian and Greek people living in the Melbourne region is the difference between their life in Australia and their homeland, in recipe form 🙂 Love the simple summer salad.

  7. I love so many lovely fruits in salads, strawberries or fresh figs with blue cheese, oranges with fennel and feta, watermelon with Spanish onion, rockmelon and/or honeydew with prawns or chorizo, mango – green or ripe with seafood or chicken and a good bit of chopped chilli….. Definitely will try your grapes with goats cheese, and your honey mustard dressing. Also the kiwi fruit with polish sausage mentioned by Pooja will be worth a go.

  16. I will make this but I’ll substitute the goats cheese for something else. My husband and I used to eat it regularly but on one occasion we got some that was gone off. It sat in my throat for days and I could never enjoy it since. I love mustard dressing!

  21. I have seen a similar salad with strawberries and balsamic vinaigrette. I like the idea of having grapes. And, I have not considered having something sweet with mustard. I have to try that!

And I have been using Pomegranate seeds on my salads. They would also go well with the beautiful goats cheese in your recipe.
