In the middle of a thick pine forest, high on the hilltops of the charming seaside town of Levanto, sits Hotel Abetaia. This hidden gem was the base for our three-night stay in Levanto, Italy. Nestled off the highway amongst the serenity of the natural surroundings of the forest, this secluded boutique hotel does not disappoint. The adjoining restaurant “ Incucina”, delivers a delicious traditional Ligurian menu prepared by owner and chef Sonia. Breakfast is included in your stay and the warm and friendly hospitality of Hotel Abetaia, will make you want to return time and time again.

A further five kilometers downhill from Hotel Abetaia, awaits Levanto. An alluring seaside town, on the Italian Riviera and a great base when exploring Cinque Terre. When travelling to Cinque Terre (if you have a car), Levanto train station is the ideal spot to leave your car for the day and hop on board a train to check out the five nearby picturesque cliff top towns.
The train ride from Levanto to the first town of Monterosso is a short five-minute journey. Monterosso is also accessible by boat or a two-hour hike up the hill through a guided path.
The wide sanded beach of Levanto is perfect for glorious summer days on the beach. Levanto beach is a haven for surfers and divers as well.
When in Italy we prefer to eat where the locals eat. Trattoria’s or Osteria’s, where rustic home cooking is produced, is where you will find us for dinner. Whilst staying at Levanto we dinned at both Trattoria Centro and Tratttoria Cavor, which served local Ligurian cuisine, fresh seafood and the regions ever-popular pesto.
